Amtrak service reduction includes Camden station
Train Station
Camden’s train station, officially known as the Seaboard Air Line Railway Depot, off West DeKalb Street. Amtrak recently announced cuts in service that -- for the first time in more than 100 years -- means less than daily service on the Silver Star route between New York City and Miami, Fla., which includes Camden. The reduction in service went into effect Monday. The Silver Star is now only running from Miami northward on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays, and from New York City southbound on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. (Martin L. Cahn/C-I)
As of Monday, Kershaw County residents and other travelers used to catching a train from the Camden station off West DeKalb Street found that the train is no longer running on a seven-day-a-week schedule.
