Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site Executive Director Halie Brazier recently announced she will be leaving the museum by the end of July to focus on her family as she welcomes twins in the early fall.

“Historic Camden has truly been my baby since 2016 -- and now I will leave it in good hands as I take care of two new babies,” she said in a press release.

Brazier took the helm of Historic Camden in May 2016 after the retirement of long-time executive director Joanna Craig and interim directorship of Amy Sheheen. Under her tenure, the organization has grown and developed in many ways.

“I am immensely proud of and grateful for the work that I, my staff, my board, our partners, and our volunteers have done over the last three years,” Brazier said.

Highlights include the acquisition of 476 acres of what is now dubbed the Camden Battlefield and Longleaf Pine Preserve, receiving and managing more than $535,000 in grant funding to preserve and repair the historic and modern structures on site, developing new partnerships and projects like the Visitors Center being built next door, and growing the capacity of the organization with funding, staffing and technology.

“I am so excited that we were able to implement new events for the community like the Revolutionary Run Half Marathon and 5K, a free Trick-or-Treating event at our historic houses, and a series of summer camps which is growing even bigger this year,” Brazier said.

Historic Camden Board Chair Amy Sheheen wished Brazier well.

“We have had such a great experience with Halie as our executive director,” Sheheen said. “Her positive leadership has moved us forward in so many ways. We will miss her and wish her the very best!”

The Historic Camden Foundation Board is now accepting applications for the executive director position. It is looking for a strong manager who will be leading efforts in revenue generation and partnership development for new and exciting things on the horizon.

Applicants can visit www.historiccamden.org to view the job description and instructions for applying by the June 1 deadline. Questions about the position can be directed to Brazier herself at halie@historiccamden.org.
