Robert Mitchell recently received the National Safety Council highest safe driving award.
On Tuesday, March 26, Camden Route 5 City Carrier, Robert Mitchell joined a very exclusive group when he received the National Safety Council’s highest award for safe driving, the Million Mile Award. Greater South Carolina Safety Manager, and Officer-In-Charge Dustin Mixson presented the award at the Camden Post Office, 2629 Liberty Hill Rd. According to the National Safety Council, over 5,900 postal employees (since 2005) have achieved this unique distinction that most of us will never approach in a lifetime -- driving for 30 years and more than one million miles without an at-fault accident. The Postal Service has one of the largest vehicle fleets in the world, and drivers face hazardous road and traffic conditions, city and rural terrain, and inattentive drivers that challenge their safety every day.
