The city of Camden is asking more than 30 churches in the city to participate in a “Let Freedom Ring” bell-ringing ceremony Wednesday to mark the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Camden City Manager Mel Pearson is expected to update Camden City Council on the ceremony during its 4 p.m. work session Tuesday. “The city of Camden is excited to participate in a local effort to occur at the same time as the commemorative program is scheduled in Washington, D.C.,” Caitlin Corbett, assistant to the city manager, wrote in a letter to church leaders attached to the work session’s agenda.
