Second reading of a potential noise limitation ordinance is set to be taken up by Kershaw County Council during its meeting Tuesday. The proposal, first brought forward by Councilman Jimmy Jones, outlines a number of different parameters pertaining to enforcement. According to the ordinance, law enforcement officials would need to consider the following factors before issuing a citation: •the intensity of the noise; •the general characteristics of the area where the noise is occurring; •the time of day or night; •the reasonable expectations of quiet that could be expected by individuals; and •previous requests by law enforcement officers or citizens for the abatement of noise.
