With barely any discussion, Camden City Council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) to design, construct and operate a “regional tourism facility” on former Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site property on South Broad Street. The 5-0 vote for what is also referred to in the agreement as a “tourism visitor center” came after a 20- to 25-minute executive session and after very brief comments from City Manager Mel Pearson and Councilman Jeffrey Graham. “This is an opportunity for the city to enter into an agreement with Central Carolina Tech for the amount of up to, not to exceed, $5 million,” Pearson said.
