Camden City Council will hold a meeting tonight at 6 p.m. on the second floor of Camden City Hall, 1000 Lyttleton St. Only two action items are on the agenda, and both deal with pending property purchases by the city. Council will consider second and final reading of an ordinance authorizing the purchase of 905 Market St. Council will then consider first reading of an ordinance authorizing the purchase of 705 Fair St. According to City Manager Mel Pearson, the Market Street lot is adjacent to a larger parcel already purchased by the city, which is in turn adjacent to property where the Kershaw County Farmers Market plans to move to in 2018. Pearson said the city plans to clean up the property being considered tonight in order to use it for more parking or to be sold for commercial use.
