City honors Billy and Lynn Ammons with bench at Zemp
Ammons at Bench
Billy and Lynn Ammons (front, second and third from left), surrounded by four children and eight grandchildren, sit on a city of Camden Leaders Legacy bench dedicated to them on Friday afternoon at Zemp Stadium. Although the ceremony took place inside the stadium, the bench sits just outside, at the joint driveway serving Zemp and Camden City Arena. In addition to friends, son Will Ammons (back, third from right) spoke about his parents as well. (Martin L. Cahn/C-I)
On Friday, more than 10 months after Camden City Council approved the request, the city officially dedicated a Leaders Legacy bench placed just outside Camden High School’s (CHS) Zemp Stadium to former Coach Billy Ammons and his wife, Lynn, a long time Kershaw County School District nurse.
