Camden Mayor Jeffrey Graham, 29, his voice strained, told a packed-to-capacity crowd at Camden City Hall Tuesday night that he deliberately chose to return to Camden after college because he “believes in the people that raised me in this community to be who I am today.” Graham spoke during one of the longest Camden City Council meetings of the past few years. During the meeting, council voted 4-1 to send to the city’s municipal election commission a petition calling for a referendum on whether or not to continue efforts to build a proposed YMCA of Columbia-run sports complex.
