City to consider licensing changes

Camden City Council will consider an amendment to the city’s business license ordinance during its meeting Tuesday in order to comply with a new state law concerning non-admitted insurance brokers. In a memo attached to Tuesday’s agenda, Camden City Manager Kevin Bronson noted the impetus for the amendment was the result of a change in federal law, specifically a provision for “the Non-admitted and Reinsurance Reform Act.” The federal change resulted in new legislation being approved by the S.C. General Assembly during the 2012 session.
