CPC recommends denial of Haile Street annexation request
Hearing - Tetterton
Local attorney William Tetterton points to a feature on an aerial map of Haile Street during a Camden Public Commission public hearing Tuesday on whether or not to annex an 11.1-acre property adjacent to his. Tetterton said he has been led to believe that a developer would clear-cut the property and place up to 28 “slab” homes on the property, adding to traffic congestion and a loss of mature trees that support local wildlife, including birds and deer. The Camden Planning Commission (CPC) unanimously voted on a motion by Commissioner Peggy Ogburn to recommend that Camden City Council deny an annexation petition for 2217 Haile St. The vote followed comments from 16 speakers during a public hearing on the matter, and was followed in turn with a loud round of applause.
