The Camden Police Department (CPD) will honor two officers and a state constable during Camden City Council’s work session Tuesday afternoon. According to a copy of the work session’s agenda, the CPD will honor Sgt. Scott Smith for receiving a S.C. Alcohol Enforcement Team Recognition Award for innovation and perseverance in reducing underage drinking; Sgt. James Heming and S.C. Constable Earl Berry for placing first at the 2014 Palmetto State Police Pistol Combat Regional Competition; and Heming and Berry again for placing first overall in the 2014 National Police Week Pistol March and first place in the Civilian Law Enforcement Category. Also on the work session agenda are: • presentation of United Way of Kershaw County Award to CPD Victim’s Advocate Dena Horton; • an update on work performed by the Maxway Property Committee; • information about the Ross Beard Collection at the Camden Archives and Museum; and • an executive session to discuss undisclosed personnel matters.
