Dancer - With Mandy
Mandy Huckins with Dancer, her 20-year-old blind Hanoverian mare at Springdale Stables in Camden. Huckins first met Dancer -- originally named Windtaenzerin -- in 2005 in Germany and started riding her. Her husband later bought Dancer as an anniversary present. Dancer began losing her eyesight to equine recurrent uveitis, or ERU, in Germany, and it continued after the Huckins moved back to the U.S. and, eventually, Camden, forcing the eventual removal of both eyes. Above Dancer’s stall -- just to the right -- is a sign that reads, “I will walk by faith when I cannot see. 2 Corinthians 5:7”.
