Camden Media Co., the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center and the City of Camden Tourism Development Office have joined forces to publish a new annual magazine devoted to what makes Kershaw County a great place to live, work and play.
Discover Camden-Kershaw County -- a slick, glossy magazine -- will debut in August but also will be available throughout the year. The magazine will include local features about living in Kershaw County as well as provide information about the chamber and its members.
Former Chronicle-Independent editor Martha Bruce, who currently edits The Shaw News, published by Camden Media Co., will serve as Discover Camden-Kershaw County’s editor. C-I staffers will write a range of feature articles showcasing what makes Kershaw County and its communities a unique place for potential industries and business to locate.
In addition to the feature stories, Discover Camden-Kershaw County will include a chamber membership directory and listings of restaurants, hotels and local festivals. Discover Camden-Kershaw County will be published each August and placed at locations throughout the county. The magazine will also be available at the chamber and Kershaw County Economic Development Office and sent to the state’s welcome centers and the Olde English District as well as other locations around South Carolina in order to attract tourists to the county.
Discover Camden-Kershaw County will be included in chamber relocation packets distributed to potential businesses and individuals seeking a new home in Kershaw County. It will be supplied to anyone who asks for additional information about Kershaw County through the chamber’s website.
"We are very pleased to join with the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center and Camden-Kershaw County Tourism Development Office in launching this publication and are confident that it will prove to be a huge benefit to the area," Camden Media Co. Publisher Mike Mischner said.
Chamber Executive Director Liz Horton agreed.
"We are extremely excited about this new partnership, particularly the ability to get a high-quality publication that is updated and published annually and, more importantly, is produced locally," said Horton. "Our goal is to showcase Kershaw County as a place to visit and as THE place businesses and families want to call home."
Suzi Sale, director of the City of Camden Tourism Development Office, said the magazine will be a great resource.
"This venture is an outstanding way to showcase the sites, amenities and activities that drive tourism economics throughout the Camden-Kershaw County region," she said, "An invaluable tool, Discover will help us recruit and welcome visitors to discover the ‘Classically Carolina’ place we call home."
