A new bench, placed under a spreading oak tree between several baseball fields in Woodward Park, is a fitting tribute to the man who, friends and well-wishers said, is essentially the reason those fields are there. About 100 people gathered on a hot and sticky morning to tell stories, swap memories and otherwise spend quality time honoring old friend and well-respected community icon Doyle Allen during a Leadership Legacy bench dedication ceremony hosted by the city of Camden. “You have marked this community with nothing but good,” Mayor Tony Scully said.
