Dozens of people gathered at Camden City Arena early Saturday afternoon to keep a promise. For the better part of two years, the Concerned Citizens of Kershaw County (CCKC) had tried to hold a banquet to honor four people it had deemed Living Legends: former educator and civil rights leader Vivian Bracey Metze; Dr. Ernestine James Adams, an educator, activist and historian; Edward Mike McClendon, political activist, journalist and newspaper publisher; and Clifton Harrington Anderson, mental health advocate and playwright.
