Final TIF district reading Tuesday

Camden City Council will consider second and final reading Tuesday morning of an ordinance establishing a redevelopment project area tied to the creation of a tax incremental financing (TIF) district in the city of Camden. The district’s proposed boundaries would encompass a nearly 127 acres along both sides of West DeKalb Street, anchored on the east by a sports complex the city proposes to have managed by the YMCA of Columbia. Using current tax assessment values as a baseline, the city would “peel off” any future tax revenues above that benchmark for utility and other improvements within the district.
