Homeowners recognized for 'old' new house
Reed House 2
Home of Sarah and Albert Reed -- Ancrum Road
The award for New Construction within a Local Historic Neighborhood will be given to Albert and Sarah Reed Tuesday when the Camden Historic Landmarks Commission recognizes a historic property and owner for preserving Camden’s heritage through historically in-keeping new construction of a structure or structures within a locally designated historic neighborhood. Because Camden had no public pools and few private swimming pools, in the early 1930s, N.R. Goodale generously opened this undeveloped parcel of lakefront land to the community. The residents and children of Camden often rode their horses and ponies to the swimming area and thus it became know as “Saddle and Paddle.”
