The Mayor’s Cup step show competition returns to the Camden High School gymnasium Saturday at 6 p.m. Jackson Teen Center Executive Director Brian Mayes, who has coordinated the step shows for many years, said 10 acts will compete for the Mayor’s Cup -- the first competition under new Mayor Alfred Mae Drakeford. “We’ll have the defending champions, the Royal Diamonds of Columbia,” Mayes said, “plus Diamonds in the Rough from Norfolk, Va.” He said other teams will be coming from Gastonia, N.C., Lancaster County and the town of Kershaw.
