The city of Camden’s new S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) mandated waste water treatment plant is on schedule to be completed by an Aug. 2012 deadline, according to the lead engineer with the firm hired to design the plant. R. Thomas Haselden Jr., of BP Barber, said the plant’s design phase is on schedule, which should allow the plant to be constructed by DHEC’s deadline. Barbour confirmed the timing during a public hearing held at the beginning of Camden City Council’s regular meeting Tuesday night.
