The CSX Railroad crossing on Chestnut Street between Garden and Gordon streets will be closed on or around April 25 for two to five days for repairs.

According to a press release issued Tuesday by Southern Commercial Development LLC, which is working with CSX on the repairs, the two companies will work together to provide traffic control and detour signage in connection with the routine maintenance.

“This will necessitate rerouting traffic,” Southern Commercial Railroad Division Manager Erika Elmore said. “Signage will be in place marking detour routes. Please note the expected close dates; each crossing will be closed for two to five days, and we will update with changes in the schedule as they occur. Please note that any and all dates are subject to change due to weather and/or other conditions.”

The Chestnut Street crossing is just west of Boykin Park’s northwest corner. CSX and Southern Commercial have not announced exactly how traffic will be rerouted.
