Swearing-in - Laurie Parks
For the first time in Camden history, two women will sit on council at the same time as Laurie M. Parks (third from right) took the oath of office from the Rev. Steve A. Patterson Jr. (left). Parks was joined by her husband, Westley (far right); son, Connor (center); and daughter, Caroline Watts. Its been quite a journey, Parks said. I want to be that voice for the citizens of Camden. I am thankful for this chance and want you to know that I take it seriously and will do my best. - photo by Martin L. Cahn
A new mayor a new councilwoman and a returning councilwoman took the oath of office Monday night at Camden City Hall, followed by refreshments in the adjoining bay of Camden Fire Station No. 1. A crowd of citizens, including many who had to stand against the side and back walls, witnessed the oaths.
