Camden City Council must now decide if it will place a referendum on city ballots asking if residents want the city of Camden to proceed with plans to construct a possibly YMCA of Columbia-run sports complex. Tuesday night, opponents to the sports complex proposal submitted to council a petition check worksheet signed by Rosalind Watson, director of the Kershaw County Voter Registration office. Jim Parrish, speaking first during a public forum on behalf of those seeking the referendum, did not submit the actual petition with signatures.
