River Oaks Shopping Center is, finally, a part of the city of Camden. Despite being located across from Walmart on West DeKalb Street just before the U.S. 1 bridge over the Wateree River, River Oaks has been outside the city limits since it was originally developed years ago. Camden City Council voted unanimously during its meeting Tuesday night to pass second and final reading of an ordinance authorizing the annexation, which had been amended to list BMS Camden Associates LLC as its owner.
