S.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal was a special guest of the Camden Rotary Club at its weekly meeting Thursday, speaking to the crowd of Rotarians on a variety of issues facing the state’s judicial system. Toal, the first women to serve on the S.C. Supreme Court, said one of her roles is to educate the public about how the courts function. “A recent survey shows that people know a lot about the judges on ‘American Idol,’ but many cannot name as many as one justice on the United States Supreme Court,” Toal noted with a smile.
