The S.C. Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is proposing to remove a proposed road safety improvement at U.S. 521 (Sumter Highway) near Century Boulevard and I-20 Exit 98 from the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). According to a SCDOT press release, the SCDOT Commission originally approved the intersection improvements with its 2013 Safety Priority List. However, SCDOT said the city of Camden did not grant a municipal agreement for the project and, therefore, the funding associated with the project was reallocated within SCDOT’s safety program.
