Work on an enforceable truck route around the city of Camden will begin Monday as contractors working for the S.C. Department of Transportation (SCDOT) widen a section of Springdale Drive and all of Boykin Road between Knights Hill Road and North Broad Street (U.S. 521/601). The overall truck route project also includes upgrades to the West DeKalb Street/Springdale Drive intersection and work along Chesnut Ferry Road Ext., York Street and Ehrenclou Drive. An enforceable truck route would take heavy trucks out of the downtown business district, opening the way forward for Broad Street between DeKalb and York streets to be placed on a “road diet.”
