Kershaw County’s equine heritage will be celebrated again through the Downtown Camden Guild’s (DCG) unique civic art project featuring painted aluminum jockey silks displayed on downtown light posts.Delete - Merge Upbodycopy The DCG launched the program last year as part of its efforts to beautify downtown Camden and to show support for the equine industry.Delete - Merge Upbodycopy Local artists, businesses, residents and school groups are invited to design the jockey silks for a range of sponsors representing everything from the equine industry and banking to media and small businesses. Sponsorships are $150 and include a marketing package developed by the DCG.Delete - Merge Upbodycopy Proceeds from sponsorships will benefit both the DCG and the South Carolina Committee of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (SCTRF). The jockey silks will be displayed on the banner arms of the city’s decorative light posts leading up to the Carolina Cup.
