Tree lighting, music highlight start of Camdens Christmas
Camden Christmas Tree
Pomp and silliness greeted the holiday season as the city of Camden lit its Christmas tree Friday night. While Camden Mayor Tony Scully (second from right) posed with 2013 Miss Camden Teen Bethany Parrott on one side of the tree, (from left) Hanna Williams, Thomas Churchwell and Jordan Byrd decided to ham it up on the other. The city of Camden continued its long tradition of lighting a Christmas tree in front of Camden City Hall on Friday night. In opening remarks, City Manager Mel Pearson noted that city staff planted the Eudora Cedar tree only two and a half years ago. “It was 7 feet tall then; now, it’s 19 feet tall and holds a lot of lights that are ready to be turned on tonight,” Pearson said.
