Historic Camden is working with the State Archaeologist to conduct an archaeological reconnaissance survey on a parcel of land just south of their parking lot--where the Kershaw County Farmers Market was held before they moved downtown. Volunteers ages 16 and older are needed this month to assist with the survey. “This area of land is about 3.5 acres, and we will be conducting shovel tests and gradiometer readings over the next few weeks,” Historic Camden executive director Halie Brazier said.
