Sheriff says car found at scrap yard linked to murder
Dena Thames 112522
Dena Thames, pictured in an undated photograph provided by the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), died more than a year ago on Nov. 10, 2021, after being shot to death along the side of Gaines Church Road, some eight miles north of where she was normally seen walking up and down West and East DeKalb Street in Camden.
Dena Michelle Thames was from Darlington and, according to court records from the last 20 years, listed addresses in at least Bishopville, Cassatt, and east Camden. She was 37 years old and had several children. She was also effectively homeless, living in motel rooms and walking up and down West DeKalb Street in Camden asking people for money, food, and any other help she could find.
