Northeast Columbia American Legion Post 182 recognized Lt. Chris “Bird” Boykin as Kershaw County’s 2012 Deputy of the Year in a ceremony held at the Ft. Jackson Officers Club on February 12. According to Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews, “Lt. Boykin is a man small in stature, but big in heart.
