Attic fire disrupts Camden City Hall
City Hall Fire
Camden firefighters use a ladder truck to gain access to Camden City Hall’s roof and attic after a small fire broke out Monday morning, as smoke billows from some vents on the back left of the building. CFD Chief John Bowers said the fire was caused by a tool used by a contractor who was working on replacing the building’s original 1965 vents. (Martin L. Cahn/C-I)
While members of the Camden Fire Department (CFD) hosted a meeting with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) about Friday night’s fireworks stand arson case (see accompanying story), they were interrupted by a city of Camden employee warning them to evacuate because Camden City Hall was on fire. CFD headquarters is part of the city hall complex and are physically part of the same building.
