A helicopter crew airlifted a 5-year-old Lugoff boy from KershawHealth to the JMS Burn Center in Augusta after he suffered severe burns Wednesday. Kershaw County Fire Marshall Keith Ray said the boy suffered the burns from a car fire at an Andrews Circle, Lugoff residence around 11 a.m. Ray reported Thursday morning that the boy was in critical but stable condition and that his mother, who suffered severe burns to her hands and arms when she pulled her son out of the vehicle, was in stable condition. Ray said the Blaney and Doby’s Mill fire departments responded to the scene within 11 minutes and found a 2012 Dodge Journey compact SUV on fire.
