In a press release issued Jan. 24, U.S. South Carolina Attorney Beth Drake said Kemo Jason Smith, 39, of Camden, and Deandre Adarias Jenkins, 27, of Conway, were charged Tuesday in a multi-count indictment with conspiracy to import cocaine and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. Jenkins was additionally charged with possession of firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and unlawful use of U.S. Mail. The maximum penalty they could receive for the conspiracy charges is a fine of $5 million and/or 40 years imprisonment.
