Camden Police Department, partners ready for 81st Cup

Kershaw County residents, their guests and others attending the 81st annual Carolina Cup should feel safe this weekend as there will be 17 law enforcement organizations and additional support service agencies patrolling the area. The Camden Police Department (CPD), which has organized law enforcement for the Cup during the last 15 years, has invited 135 South Carolina’s Alcohol Enforcement Team (SCAEAT) trained officers from the following locations: Elgin, the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, Lexington Police Department and sheriff’s office, Columbia, Irmo, Florence, Cayce, Sumter, Chesterfield, Bishopville, Class I instructors from the Criminal Justice Academy, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), as well as the State Transport Police for safety inspections on the more than 120 charter buses traveling to and from the Cup. Kershaw County Detention Center staff, the Camden Fire Department and local EMS personnel and a doctor will also be at the event.
