Some Kershaw County parents have expressed concern about whether a convicted sex offender is allowed on public school grounds. By law, a sex offender cannot live within 1,000 feet of a school, church or playground, daycare centers and other such places, according to Beverly Brevard of the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO). Sex offenders who lived within 1,000 feet of a school or place where children meet before the law went into effect are able to stay in the homes, however.
