As of Friday, all Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies have been trained to use and now have as part of their gear an opiate overdose antidote. Instructors from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and the 5th Circuit Solicitors Office trained the deputies on the use of Narcan nasal spray applicators, which contain Naxolone. The applicators are designed to be administered to individuals who have overdosed on opiates.
