Christopher Gambrell, 20, of Clay Road, Camden, is being held on a total $160,000 bond for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female family member. Gambrell is charged by the Camden Police Department (CPD) and Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).
A CPD report named Gambrell as the arrested man. A detective reported that she was advised on April 29 to make contact with a KCSO investigator about the case because some of the assaults allegedly perpetrated by Gambrell took place inside the Camden city limits.
The CPD served Gambrell with a warrant for second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor on May 9 at the Kershaw County Detention Center. Online jail records show the KCSO had already arrested Gambrell and charged him with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
In what were apparently separate bond hearings, a county magistrate and a city magistrate each set bond at $80,000 for the charges, bringing Gambrell’s total bond to $160,000.
A search of online Kershaw County Clerk of Court records showed no previous record for Gambrell.
Man charged with incest
In a separate case, the CPD is charging Ricky Lee Horton, 36, of Cassatt Road with incest and first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
In late February, a CPD detective received word from the Department of Social Services in Orangeburg County about sexual assault allegations involving Horton and his now 12-year-old daughter. Based on information provided by the girl’s middle school counselor, the CPD is accusing Horton of sexual assaults going back to when the girl was only 4 years old and again at 9 years old.
Following an investigation, officers arrested Horton on May 7 at CPD headquarters and transported him to jail where he is being held without bond.
