Several Camden Police Department (CPD) officers appeared at Camden Elementary School (CES) Friday following news out of Newtown, Conn., of what is being considered the second-worst school-related shooting in American history. National news reports said 24-year-old Adam Lanza entered Newton’s Sandy Hook Elementary School where his mother worked as a kindergarten teacher, and killed her, five other staff members -- and 20 young students, most in his mother’s classroom. CPD Chief Joe Floyd said CPD thought the extra presence at CES might reduce some of the anxiety in parents within the Camden community.
