A man stole $1,700 from a West DeKalb Street department store’s safe after threatening two employees with a knife. According to a Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) report, two employees walked to the cash office in the stock room to count the “daily money” when a man jumped out from under a staircase. The subject reportedly said, “I’m not going to hurt you, I need to feed my family, we live under the bridge,” while allegedly swinging the knife.
