The Elgin Police Department (EPD) reported a high number of motor vehicle break-ins and thefts from motor vehicles in recent weeks. At least one dozen of them, reported Feb. 13-15, on Rose Street, Nature Lane, Strawberry Field Lane, Oakland Drive and Jeffers Road, appear to be attributable to five suspects arrested by the sheriff’s office early in the morning on Feb. 15. During this time, an Elgin woman also found an iPad on Bowen Street later identified as being stolen from Lexington County School District Two.
