During the past week, two Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies managed to avoid head-on crashes with drunk drivers in separate incidents. In both cases, the deputies happened to be part of the KCSO’s traffic unit and were able to arrest the drivers and charge them with driving under the influence (DUI). “Last month, the KCSO traffic unit made 21 DUI arrests, compared to 15 in January last year,” Sheriff Jim Matthews said in a KCSO press release.
