Camden Police Department (CPD) officers are investigating a fraud/confidence game/breach of trust case that reportedly scammed a Camden woman out of more than $29,000. A CPD report said the victim told police she received a phone message from a man claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service who said she risked being arrested if she did not contact him immediately. The report said she returned the call and was told to go to a local store and buy “Green Dot Smartmoney” cards.
