KCSO nabs fugitives on I-20; homeowner shoots attacking pit bull

A Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) traffic officer nabbed two wanted fugitives Nov. 4 after stopping a vehicle on I-20 for speeding at 90 mph in a 70 mph zone. According to a KCSO press release, the deputy ran the driver’s licenses of both occupants and learned the driver, Christopher Evon Smith, 31, was out on bond from Horry County on murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime charges. The deputy also learned the front seat passenger, Travis Levont Walters, 34, was wanted by the U.S. Marshals for federal probation violations on weapons possession and drug trafficking charges.
