EPD charges two after traffic stop

Elgin Police Department (EPD) Elgin police arrested two 50-year-old Columbia men on several charges just after midnight Oct. 27 after an officer saw them traveling in a Ford van with no tag light near the Circle K on Main Street. According to an EPD report, an officer make a traffic stop and approached the van, immediately smelling a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside. While they talked with the man, who was the driver, a Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputy spoke with the passenger.
