Defense begins case in CMA trial

The civil trial over the alleged 2008 beating and rape of a cadet at Camden Military Academy (CMA) transitioned this week from the plaintiff’s case to the defense. Monday, a federal judge allowed the jury to view nine minutes worth of cellphone videos of another alleged beating involving a different cadet from 2006. Plaintiff’s attorneys, over defense objections, were allowed to show the videos, saying they showed a climate of student violence at CMA. The trial involves an alleged incident from 2008 involving a then 13-year-old cadet from Georgia who attended CMA for five months.
