The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) is looking for four men suspected to be involved in a daytime shooting at the Camden Motel on Jefferson Davis Highway in east Camden around lunchtime Tuesday.

One victim sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound, according to KCSO Chief Deputy Steve Knafelc, who said the victim and a witness acknowledged to investigators that the incident was a “drug deal that went bad.”

“Illegal drugs were located in the victim’s vehicle,” Knafelc said Tuesday afternoon. “This was not a random shooting.”

He said the four black males fled the scene in a black Nissan Altima. Knafelc asked that anyone with information about the shooting call KCSO Inv. Miles Taylor at (803) 425-1512.

As of Thursday afternoon, Knafelc had no updates in the case except to say that the investigation is focusing on the Nissan Altima.
