DUI suspect sentenced for illegal entry into U.S.

A 34-year-old Honduran man arrested in late February for DUI by the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) received a four-month sentence and a special $100 assessment earlier this week for being in the country illegally. In a press release issued Wednesday afternoon, South Carolina U.S. Attorney Beth Drake said Ramon Orlando Alvarenga-Rodriguez was sen-tenced in federal court in Columbia for illegal re-entry by a previously deported alien. U.S. District Judge J. Michelle Childs handed down the sentence and special assessment.
