Elgin man arrested for murder of adult son

The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) arrested an Elgin man Thursday, charging him with murder in the shooting death of his son. According to a KCSO press release, Stephen Earl Wood Sr., 68, of Thorton Drive, Elgin, is accused of shooting and killing Stephen Earl Wood Jr., 26, who also lived at the home with his wife and two children. In the release, deputies said they were dispatched to the home at 12:21 a.m. Thursday after the elder Wood called 911 and said he had shot his son, who was still alive at the time of the call.
